2013 Australian Koala 1 oz Silver Bullion Coin

The 2013 Perth Mint Australian Koala is a 1 oz silver bullion coin struck from 99.9% pure silver. Issued as Australian legal tender with a face value of $1, it forms part of The Perth Mint’s long-running Australian Koala series, which is known for featuring a different koala design each year.

The reverse depicts an adult koala sitting in the fork of a eucalyptus tree surrounded by gum leaves. The design is accompanied by the inscriptions “AUSTRALIAN KOALA” and “2013 1oz 999 SILVER”, together with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “1 DOLLAR”.

The Perth Mint recorded a declared mintage of 477,209 for the standard 2013 1 oz Silver Koala bullion coin. With one troy ounce of silver, an annually changing Australian wildlife design and recognised Perth Mint provenance, the 2013 Koala appeals to both silver bullion buyers and collectors building date sets of the series.
