1918 George V Perth Mint Gold Sovereign

The 1918 George V Perth Mint Gold Sovereign is an historic Australian gold coin struck at The Perth Mint during the final year of the First World War. Produced in 22-carat gold, the sovereign has a minimum gross weight of 7.988 grams and contains approximately 0.2354 troy ounces of pure gold.

The obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George V designed by Australian sculptor Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal. The reverse carries Benedetto Pistrucci’s renowned St George and the Dragon design, with the 1918 date below. A distinctive ‘P’ mintmark identifies the coin as having been struck at the Perth branch of The Royal Mint.

The Perth Mint produced 3,812,884 sovereigns dated 1918.
