2023 South African Silver Krugerrand 1 oz Bullion Coin

The 2023 Silver Krugerrand is a 1 oz silver bullion coin from South Africa, struck from 99.9% pure silver and carrying a face value of 1 Rand. It continues the internationally recognised Krugerrand design first introduced on the gold series in 1967, with the silver bullion version becoming a regular annual issue from 2018.

The obverse features the portrait of Paul Kruger, former President of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, modelled by die engraver Otto Schultz. The inscriptions “SUID-AFRIKA” and “SOUTH AFRICA” appear around the portrait. The reverse features Coert Steynberg’s springbok design, together with the year 2023 and the inscriptions “KRUGERRAND”, “FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER” and “R1”.

The standard bullion Silver Krugerrand contains one troy ounce of fine silver and is produced for the investment bullion market rather than as a fixed-mintage collector proof. Its established design, South African legal-tender status and recognised silver content make it suitable for both bullion buyers and collectors of annual Krugerrand issues.
