2015 Australian Koala 1 oz Silver Bullion Coin

The 2015 Perth Mint Australian Koala is a 1 oz silver bullion coin struck from 99.9% pure silver. Issued as Australian legal tender with a face value of $1, it forms part of The Perth Mint’s Australian Koala series, which features a different interpretation of the native Australian marsupial each year.

The reverse portrays an adult koala resting in the fork of a eucalyptus tree, with an Australian bush landscape in the background. The design is surrounded by the inscription “AUSTRALIAN KOALA”, while “2015 1oz 999 SILVER” appears below together with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II accompanied by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “1 DOLLAR”.

The Perth Mint recorded a declared mintage of 450,899 for the standard 2015 1 oz Silver Koala. This was the final 1 oz Koala issue produced on a mint-to-order basis before a fixed maximum mintage was introduced for the following year. Combining one troy ounce of silver with an annually changing Australian wildlife design, the 2015 Koala has appeal for both bullion buyers and collectors of the series.
