The 1917 George V Perth Mint Gold Sovereign is an historic Australian gold coin struck at The Perth Mint during the First World War. Produced in 22-carat gold with a gross weight of 7.988 grams, the sovereign contains approximately 0.2354 troy ounces of pure gold.

The obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George V by Australian sculptor Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal, surrounded by the monarch’s Latin inscription. The reverse carries Benedetto Pistrucci’s celebrated St George and the Dragon design, first introduced on the modern sovereign in 1817. The 1917 date appears below the design, while the distinctive ‘P’ mintmark identifies the coin as a Perth Mint issue.
