The 1895 Queen Victoria “Veiled Head” Gold Sovereign is a historic Australian gold coin struck at the Melbourne branch of the Royal Mint during the height of the British Empire. Produced in 22 carat (.9167 fine) gold, this sovereign weighs 7.98 grams and contains approximately 7.322 grams (0.2354 troy ounces) of pure gold. It belongs to the celebrated Veiled Head series (1893–1901), the final portrait type issued during Queen Victoria’s long reign.

The obverse features the distinguished “Veiled Head” or “Old Head” portrait of Queen Victoria designed by Sir Thomas Brock.
