Portuguese Colonial Silver Coinage

The 1960 Mozambique 20 Escudos is a silver circulation coin issued during the period when Mozambique formed part of the Portuguese overseas territories. Struck in .720 fine silver, this historic issue combines silver content with strong historical and colonial-era significance.

The obverse features the arms of Mozambique together with the inscription “MOÇAMBIQUE” and the denomination of 20 Escudos. The reverse displays the Portuguese coat of arms within an armillary sphere and the inscription “REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA” with the date 1960.

Containing 7.20 grams of pure silver, the coin is popular among collectors of Portuguese colonial coinage, African numismatics and silver world coins.
