The 1894 Queen Victoria “Veiled Head” Gold Sovereign is a historic British gold coin struck at the Royal Mint in London during the later years of the Victorian era. Produced in 22 carat (.9167 fine) gold, this sovereign weighs 7.98 grams and contains approximately 7.322 grams (0.2354 troy ounces) of pure gold. It forms part of the celebrated Veiled Head series (1893–1901), the final portrait type issued during Queen Victoria’s reign.

The obverse features the distinguished “Veiled Head” or “Old Head” portrait of Queen Victoria, designed by Sir Thomas Brock. Depicting the Queen wearing a widow’s veil and royal regalia, this portrait became the definitive image of Victoria in her later years and remained in use until her death in 1901. The reverse displays Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St. George and the Dragon design, one of the most enduring and recognisable motifs in world coinage.
