2005 Perth Mint WWII Anniversary Silver Coin

The 2005 Australia $1 60th Anniversary of the End of World War II 1oz Silver Coin was issued by The Perth Mint to commemorate sixty years since the end of World War II. Struck from 1 troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver, this proof-quality collector coin combines precious metal content with an iconic piece of Australian history.

The reverse features Australia’s famous “Dancing Man” celebration image, captured during Victory in the Pacific Day celebrations in Sydney on 15 August 1945. A distinctive lenticular design creates a moving image effect when viewed from different angles, making this one of Perth Mint’s most innovative commemorative silver coin releases. The design is encircled by the inscription “60th Anniversary of the End of WWII 1945–2005”.
