The 1900 Gold Sovereign featuring Queen Victoria’s “Old Head” (or Veiled Head) portrait was struck at the Royal Mint’s Sydney branch one of the final sovereigns of her reign and a distinct variant within Australia’s minting legacy.

Obverse Design:
Displays Queen Victoria facing left, crowned and draped with a widow’s veil, crafted by Thomas Brock.The surrounding inscription reads: “VICTORIA·DEI·GRA·BRITT·REGINA·FID·DEF·IND·IMP.”

Reverse Design:
Features Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St George slaying the dragon, with the date “1900” below and the “S” mintmark above the date denoting the Sydney Mint.
